Science Fiction is my favorite genre.
When I was a teenager, I wrote short Science Fiction stories and sent them off to magazines. They got rejected. Now that I am much older, I can see why. I stopped writing, not because of the rejections, but because Life happened.
Three years ago, I decided to write a novel. At my advanced age this seems stupid. But what the hell, why not?
I use Microsoft Word to write. I thought I’d try a better word processor, so I bought a program called Scrivener. If you like Character sheets and Location sheets, corkboards, and what seems like a million other features, this is your program. I don’t think I need or want all these features. I have no problem remembering what the character is all about, nor do I have a problem knowing where the hell they are. I switched back to Word.
My problem with writing is that I don’t set aside a time every day to sit down and write. I have three novels started and don’t keep at them. What I’m going to do is pick the most promising and work on that one for at least an hour a day. It will be interesting to see if I do this. I’m also going to stop reading books. Once I get involved with a good book, it takes up too much of my time.
